    Call for submissions: 2010 HSC Art Show

    The Mulford Library is seeking submissions for its 2010 Health Science Campus Artist Showcase.  Faculty, staff and students from the HSC, as well as the College of Pharmacy and College of Health Science and Human Service, can send electronic images of their artwork to mulfordartshow@gmail.com

    Welloween Health Fair this Friday, 10/30!

    Visit the University  Libraries table at the Welloween health fair to be held this Friday, 10/30, from 11am-2pm in the Student Rec Center on Main Campus.  At our table, you’ll learn about new health resources from the Libraries; the history of disease throughout classic literature; and current trends in healthcare and how to access articles and books on those topics.

    Welloween is a free event open to students, faculty and staff, and their families.  The event features several  educational and interactive tables from a variety of campus departments and community organizations, as well as health screenings and more.  Not only will you be able to pick up fun freebies as you visit the different tables, but you can enter to win grand prizes.   We hope to see you there!

    “Opening Doors” Reception: Friday, 10/16

    The University Libraries, eLearning and Academic Support will be hosting the traveling exhibit Opening Doors: Contemporary African American Academic Surgeons at the Mulford Library, Fourth Floor, on the University of Toledo Health Science Campus. Developed and produced by the National Library of Medicine and the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture, Baltimore, the exhibit is a celebration of the overall contribution of African American academic surgeons to medicine and medical education, and highlights the specific contribution of four outstanding individuals.

    The exhibit will be on display from October 1 through November 26. A reception is planned for Friday, October 16 from 3:00-5:00 p.m., and will feature Dr. Reginald F. Baugh, Professor in the Department of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Toledo, as guest speaker. Light refreshments will be served.

    Trial for JAMAevidence

    JAMAevidence is designed to help identify the best available evidence to combine with clinical experience  to allow for more informed recommendations by clinicians and more informed choices by patients. The resource considers the validity, importance, and applicability of claims about the assessment of health problems and the outcomes of health care.

    Free Trial for Natural Standard Database

    The University Libraries are being offered trial use of Natural Standard, a database that provides evidence-based, consensus-based, and peer- reviewed information on complementary and alternative therapies for clinicians, patients, and healthcare institutions, for the purpose of making more informed and safer therapeutic decisions. The trial runs through October 11, 2009. Please email your comments to us to help us evaluate this resource.

    Trial for Knovel Engineering Database

    The UT Libraries are sponsoring a trial for Knovel, a database that focuses on emerging trends for engineers. Subjects covered include Pharmaceuticals, Cosmetics, Toiletries, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Food Science.     Free Trial: NCLEX-RN in ExamMaster

    The Mulford Library has a free trial of the NCLEX-RN online preparation and review guide via ExamMaster. Below are the log-in instructions for accessing this free trial. Check it out and let us know what you think!

  • Click “Click to Start” and Click “Not Registered Yet?”
  • To continue, click [I Accept] on the Licensing Agreement page
  • 2. Complete the registration form, click [Submit Registration]

    3. Confirmation of registration and your temporary password will be e-mailed to you immediately.

    4. Log-in with your “User Name” and “Temporary Password.”

    5. The Welcome Page gives a description of the button functions and On Screen Help is available throughout the application.

    6. Select [New Exam] to build exams and study sessions.

    7. Select [Active Exams] to access exams and study sessions.

    Free trial for Psych Evidence Matters

    A free trial for Psych Evidence Matters (PEM) has been established through the UT Libraries. PEM is a tool designed to provide users in the mental health field with options for therapy once a diagnosis has been confirmed. Results are based on the cost, effectiveness, and safety of the therapy and are presented in an evidenced-based fashion.
