Substance Abuse and Mental Health Data Archive (SAMHDA)

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Data Archive (SAMHDA) provides access to substance abuse and mental health research data . It strives to promote the sharing of these data among researchers, academics, policymakers, service providers, and others. The goal is to increase the use of the data to most accurately understand and assess substance abuse and mental health problems and the impact of related treatment systems.

SAMHDA holdings consist mainly of data derived from surveys and administrative records. These data were originally collected for specific research or administrative purposes. However, the data have research potential that outlives the original purposes for which they were collected.

Data may be found through the search box at the main page, and links within the search box as the browse function and the codebooks list (study description and organized variable lists). Data may be analyzed online. Quick Tables allow you to produce analytic tables by choosing from among pre-selected high-interest variables in drop-down menus.

The main page includes links to tutorials and FAQs, as well as links to other data resources.
